At Brandermill Woods, we’re known for redefining retirement and building a fun and activity-rich community. We apply this same level of service and community to life at The Holly Inn—a state-of-the-art, secure, assisted living residence with staff specially trained to care for residents with severe cognitive impairments.
Memory loss from dementia or Alzheimer’s can be frightening, both for the person experiencing it and their loved ones. While there is no cure for this condition, the journey can be made easier with the nurturing environment and specialized assistance we offer at the Holly Inn. Our mantra is to practice kindness and treat our residents with dignity to help them and their loved ones.
Here are five things that make memory care at the Holly Inn such a special place:
1. Continuing Care Community
Brandermill Woods is a continuing care retirement community offering independent living, assisted living and memory care services, as well as rehabilitation and skilled nursing. What this means for retirees is that we give them the ability to age in place, remaining in the place they know and love as needs increase. Of course, we do have residents who come to the Holly Inn directly, but our residents and their families love having the option to join a retirement community for the long run.
2. Safety First
Safety often drives the decision to move a loved one into a memory care facility. Living alone with Alzheimer’s or dementia can be dangerous, so we put safety at the forefront of our program. We work to balance privacy with care, offering private studio, alcove or one-bedroom apartments to offer residents their own space, but we also provide nursing assistance 24 hours a day, a monitoring system at each exit, and individually tailored care plans.
3. Individual-Focused Expertise
Our specialized staff members in the Holly Inn are trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. We recognized that while Alzheimer’s and dementia share general characteristics across individuals, memory care requires individualized attention. We keep in mind the specific strengths and needs of every resident to build individualized recreation therapy programs, as well as structured daily activities.
4. A Full Calendar of Stimulating Activities
Social engagement makes a big difference in the lives of seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia. We offer daily activities ranging from manicures and bingo to music and support groups. Whether enjoying our secured therapeutic outdoor garden or enjoying a meal in our family-style dining room, our residents never want for something to do. And of course, family and friends are always welcome to attend activities.
5. Compassion at Every Turn
The most important thing to know about life at The Holly Inn is that everyone on our team has set a high bar for dedication and compassion. Our specialized memory care staff members patiently and lovingly get to know each resident, learning about their likes, their dislikes, and their personal stories. The result is a warm and welcoming atmosphere that gives residents suffering from memory loss a safe space to live, explore treatment options, and maintain and engaging and stimulating lifestyle.
