Late yesterday afternoon we discovered that the coronavirus raised its ugly hand again at Brandermill Woods when we learned that one of our independent living residents has a confirmed case that was contracted offsite. The resident has since chosen to quarantine with family members and is no longer on site. We have still taken extra precautions by implementing a 14-day observation lockdown for our independent living residents. Our status in our Assisted living and Memory Care facilities remain the same. We have been in contact with the Health Department and they have approved our plan moving forward. That plan includes contact tracing of residents potentially exposed. We will also be required to take a step back in our reopening process. That includes the closing of many of our amenities and cancelation of activities for a period of time until we are confident that we can resume those operations safely. We have updated our protocols that provide important information for families and residents. Please be sure to read that update.
I do want to take a moment and thank all of the residents in the Haven, as well as those in our Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities for their assistance during the point of prevalence survey we conducted in that area yesterday. In total we swabbed 249 people, including 172employees and all of our 77 residents. Now we must be patient and wait for the results. According to the Health Department, that could take up to seven days. We will keep you posted when we get updates on the results.
We hope this latest case serves asa reminder to all of our residents and families the importance of following CDC guidelines which include wearing a mask, washing your hands frequently and practicing social distancing. This virus is highly contagious and letting your guard down for just a moment can be the difference between getting the virus or remaining safe.
As always, we are here if you need us so feel free to contact us. Please stay safe and stay cool.
