Independent Living Community (ILU)
Resilience continues to be the quality that is carrying us forward as we begin this new year. COVID-19 positivity rates continue to increase in Chesterfield County, and hospitalizations are at record highs. At our ILU Community, our list of residents on quarantine has increased to 56.
Thank you to all residents who followed our protocols and contacted us as requested when planning their offsite visits. We know being quarantined is not easy, and we appreciate that a majority of residents follow the quarantine protocols. However, we have had some residents expose other residents and employees by visiting other residents, making a visit to an employee’s office or just walking around in the common areas.
Due to the increase in cases and these unfortunate incidents, we have decided to take our ILU Community back to a modified Step 1 effective immediately until January 15, 2021. We will reassess our COVID status at that time and determine if we need to extend past that date.
An updated Protocol as of January 4, 2021 is attached for your convenience. Please continue to monitor our website www.brandermillwoods.com for all updates and stay tuned to BWTV. Your Resident Apps are also a great source of new information.
All approved medically necessary visitors and caregivers are still required to provide us with a negative COVID-19 test result once a week before they are allowed to come to the ILU community. This requirement will continue until further notice as recommended by the Virginia Health Department.
We are still on track for our vaccination program for The Haven residents and all Brandermill Woods employees, scheduled for January 14, 2021 and the second round on February 4, 2021. There is still no confirmation from CVS pharmacy that the residents at the Assisted Living Community and Memory Care will be vaccinated on the same schedule. The CDC has determined that stand-alone Independent Living buildings are excluded from the vaccination program. It is not our decision nor CVS pharmacy’s decision. We have reached out to our representative to find out who to contact to get our ILU residents vaccinated. We will keep you updated.
At this time, we have one employee who works in Assisted Living dietary isolating at home due to COVID positive result. We are happy to report that all other employees have recovered and returned to work.
We currently have one resident still in the hospital battling COVID. Please keep this resident and family in your thoughts and prayers.
