I’m happy to report that we are now on day 22 without any new cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff. That’s encouraging news when you consider eight of our residents who once tested positive have recovered from the illness and now test negative. That leaves us with only 14 residents remaining positive. As we inch closer to our goal of 28 days without a new case we have started to explore ways that we can allow families to spend some time together. We are working with the Chesterfield Department of Health on the CMS and the CDC guidelines to lift the visitation restrictions on the property. Within our Health Care Community, The Haven, ALU and Memory Care, beginning Monday, June 8th, we will start with scheduled visits in a few designated areas (with a barrier present/glass doors) for those residents who have tested negative. We will require everyone to wear a mask and to stay six feet apart. Details of how to schedule these visits are posted on the Touchtown Family App.
Since there have been no COVID-19 cases in our Independent Living Community, we have been able to move a little faster. Starting Wednesday, June 10th, we will set up outdoor visitation locations where residents and guests can get together. We will post details on how to schedule those visits on our website shortly. This past Monday we successfully re-opened our Fitness Center and as one resident stated the timing was perfect.
“As former Mid-Westerners, we do not tolerate the heat and humidity. Having the ability to have a good workout inside is wonderful!!!!” - Rich Jordanger
We will reopen the pool under a similar model on Monday, June 8th. Scheduling details can be found in the ILU updated protocol document on our website.
Another sign that we are making progress is our plan to resume some of our normal operations at Brandermill Woods. We will soon start refurbishing vacant Independent Living Cottages so new residents can move in. We will also have a limited number of contractors on site conducting inspections and making repairs throughout the facility. These are all important steps as we strive to return to normal. As we start that slow process, we want to remind everyone of the importance of taking the proper safety precautions to protect all of our residents. We are making a lot of progress and we need to remain diligent!
We are so proud of our Brandermill Woods Team and how they have reacted to the coronavirus pandemic. Ensuring everything possible is being done to safely care for our residents and each other.
Thank you for your continued support!
